We are now on our 3rd pool for Tank our Labrador

by Kerry
(NV)

Our purebred Chocolate Labrador Retriever is an important member of our family! AKC registered, "Tank" is the picture of beauty when it comes to the black lab. A beautiful square head and wonderful disposition make him the perfect family pet.

Tank enjoys the outdoors, as most labs do, but one especially fond memory for us involves his puppy-hood! As most labradors love water, our Tank was no exception. With a large thirty foot diameter pool in our back yard, he felt the pool was his personally!

Not wanting him swimming in it when I wasn't there to watch (in case he couldn't get back out for some reason) we finally put a fence around the pool. Tank was so disheartened!! On hot days he would sit and stare through the fence at his beloved pool.

One day while walking through our local discount store I noticed the small kiddie pools in the garden shop area. Grabbing my husband by the arm I insisted that we needed a kiddie pool for Tank so that he could play in the water whenever he wanted to. After much discussion about which size and design was best, we ended up purchasing a five-foot round kiddie pool with baby penguins all over the inside.

We excitedly took the new pool home and carried it to the back patio where we could begin filling it for our four legged family member. Seeing the hose being turned on, Tank came running....did I mention that our Lab LOVES THE WATER???

He was so excited! The water swirling into the pool from the hose gave the illusion that the penguins were moving and Tank immediately jumped in and snapped his jaws at the pool bottom trying to catch the penguins. He spent all summer enjoying his kiddie pool, and I have to say that we are now on our 3rd pool for Tank, and will make sure that he has one for as long as he enjoys playing in the water!
