Pure doggie enjoyment, durability and versatility: The Jolly Ball

by Theresa
(USA)

The favorite dog toys in our household of five dogs undergo rigorous use and abuse on a daily basis. Our dogs are the expert testers of many dog friendly toys ranging from tennis balls to plastic Frisbees and plush squeaky toys.

Most dog toys endure a very short existence here, but one has risen above the rest in terms of pure doggie enjoyment, durability and versatility: The Jolly Ball. This toy comes in a variety of sizes to suit the size of the dog; however, around here the giant size takes the prize.

The Jolly ball is a durable rubber ball with a thick braided and knotted rope which slides through the middle. This toy was originally purchased for our Labrador, Muddy, who is a very powerful chewer as many winter boots, assorted sticks and many other utterly destroyed dog toys, will attest.

The Jolly Ball provides her very strong jaws with a large rubber ball to mouth and squeeze, and a strong, thick rope for playing tug-of-war or to drag it around with. After 5 years of intensive use, not only by Muddy, but also the four puppies, it is only now beginning to show significant signs of wear. It has endured teething puppies, tugging, weather from very hot to very cold, the washing machine and most importantly, the jaws of Muddy.

As a concerned dog owner, I monitor my dog’s toys for safety. Even now, with the rope fraying somewhat, I have not found any portions that would be dangerous to my dogs. The rubber ball, although showing tooth punctures, has not torn or shredded. This is one dog friendly toy that I will replace IMMEDIATELY once it has finally met its demise. I have even recommended this dog toy to strangers that I have met while in pet chain stores!
