Our Pointer, Sam, is So Much Fun

by Jon
(Arkansas)

Samantha is our current dogs name. Before we got her, her first owner always beat her. She came to us just skin and bones and she had places on her body that had bled from beatings. She was terrified of her own shadow and cowered in the corner for what seemed like forever.

She had a rough start in life before she came to live with my husband and me. This dog is now sixty pounds of English Pointer but I don't know what we would do without her. Sam was given to us by "a friend of a friend." Gradually she started coming around and would finally let us pet her.

She finally decided that we were the good guys after many, many months. Now Sam is truly a joy to have as a member of our family. We all love her to death and she is absolutely spoiled rotten. She is always glad to see us when we've been away at work and I really think this dog is appreciative of all that we have given her.

Sam knows a few tricks too. She will put her front paw up and wave bye bye whenever company leaves! And Sam loves to play "Fetch the Bone" too. She’s a pro at that! You throw it and she'll run and get it as fast as she can. And believe it or not but her best friend in the house is our cat named Tom. They play and romp through the house like two little kids.

When Sam first came to us she never wagged her tail at all and even kind of acted ashamed all the time. Now her tail never stops!! What a difference time makes!
