Our Favorite Little Beagle, Our Cody

by Thomas

My dad is a hunter of all sorts of animals. One of his favorite hunting seasons is rabbit season. All of his friends had beagles at the time and they would just share if someone didn't have a dog. For years my dad went without having a dog.

For a his birthday we hunted and hunted for a purebred beagle. Finally we found this perfect dog! We bought him on the spot, and just kept it there until it was time to give my dad his birthday present. On his birthday we brought home the beautiful beagle puppy and everything was so good and exciting.

We kept him inside because it was winter and we wanted to wait till he was older to train him as an outside pup. We named him Cody, something short that could be articulated in the woods and he could hear. That night we all went to bed not thinking about caging the little pup up, and when we woke up the silly dog had gotten in to EVERYTHING!

I couldn't be mad at the little guy, because he was so cute, but man oh man was my dad mad. After my dad got finished showing Cody what he had done wrong he then became an outside dog. He likes it a lot better outside. He can run and "protect" our yard by greeting everyone that comes over with the wag of his tail.
