My Wonderful West Highland White Terrier

I own a Westie, a West Highland White Terrier. He is the spunkiest, funniest dog I have ever met. I think Westies are the best AKC breed, but I might be biased! He has loved to play ever since he was a puppy. His favorite toy is just a tennis ball, and he can play with it for hours. He loves to run and catch the ball in his mouth--mid-air!--or have it bounce off of something for him to catch. He will outrun any other dog to catch a tennis ball, even if they are much bigger than he is. Sometimes my friend and I will throw the tennis ball back and forth over his head, and he will run from one of us to the other, hoping we will drop the ball. He loves to play tug-of-war too. If you grab one end of a rope or towel or toy he will grab the other end and fight you for it. If you sit in an office chair he can pull you across the room in it. He likes stuffed animals--especially when he can rip the stuffing out of them! He is a very loving and loyal dog, and very protective of us. He will always bark if he hears noises outside, or someone at the door. He loves to have his belly rubbed, and he loves giving kisses. He will sit on your lap for hours for long drives. He loves going places and he’s very patient! Sometimes we take him to the beach, and he loves running across the sand and wading in the water, and especially rolling around in the sand over and over again. Westies have special coarse coats, so even when his fur gets very dirty and wet by the time we’ve walked home and he’s dry he is clean and white again, almost like magic! I love that Westies are small dogs, but that they are still active, spunky, and fun. They have so much personality! They make wonderful pets and companions.
