My Golden Retriever, Tucker, is My Favorite Dog

by Dwight
(USA)

I have had purebred dogs my entire life and my favorite by far has been my Golden Retriever, Tucker. He has been calm and obiediant since the day we brought him home. He has not been fixed but has never shown any negative signs because of it and has never even left our property.

He loves to carry things around but never chews them. He jumps around and barks when I dance. All in all he is a wonderful best friend. I recommend this breed to anyone.

He benefits greatly from his schedule, being fed at the same time and going to the bathroom at the same time daily is perfect for him. Giving him a treat is as simple as giving him your water bottle when you're finished with it.

He gets along really well with other dogs, but he does prefer females to males only since he's lived with female dogs his entire life. He is a gentleman, always waiting for my beagle Roxy before he can go outside and never starting to eat before she does.

I love this dog with my entire life. I believe he is through and through a good dog. I can leave food on a plate in front of him and trust him not to grab it. He's incredibly protective and a wonderful watchdog. He doesn't require a leash on walks or in public and never runs off.

His only downfall is probably my own doing. As he has gotten older he has begun to mark things inside the house. I attribute this to a few things things...a member of the family moved out and his first mate Casey was put down around the same time last year, and also him not being fixed. This was an easily solved problem though as he is a male and they have pretty comfortable belly bands for boys, it's like a diaper that just wraps around his middle. He's never even acted like he was wearing anything.

I believe that my Golden Tucker has taught me so much about life. I often say I want to be more like him - adaptable, loyal, happy, and forgiving.
