My favorite game with my dogs

by Mike
(GA, US)

I used to play lots of different kinds of dog games with my two dogs. My favorite game involved a type of catch game.

I would find something that they liked or had been playing with, for instance a ball or a favorite dog toy, and then pick it up and throw it as far as I could. I'd watch them and see who would run the fastest to get it.

However, this game did not not have a retrieval portion to it as neither dog wanted to give up their item after it was caught. Their favorite part of the game involved trying to shred their prize into pieces.

If I wanted to throw that same item again, I had to deal with a gooey mess, unless I got to it before the shredding began. They both liked to run after whatever I threw, but mostly, because of the joy they got in tearing the item apart.

The best thing to throw was any type of bone. They loved bones. I would throw one for each of them or there would have, obviously, been a fight.

They would run after them and go to separate areas. They would lay down contentedly with their bones and start chewing on them. They wouldn't stop until either they were very tired or were presented with something better!

They never tired of this game. And neither did I.
