My Chow Pepper is Loyal, Fun and Smart

My dog, Pepper, is honestly the greatest pet I’ve ever had. She is a beautiful red Chow with a curly tail and a face that is such a combination of intelligence and beauty. I got her from an animal rescue place. They found her in a bad neighborhood, looking like she had been attacked by another dog.
Her disposition is so gentle. She moves slowly when she’s indoors and has this sweet, sad look in her eyes. When she’s playing outside, she has unbelievable speed and will run around until I’m exhausted.
Pepper also loves going for car rides. I’ve never seen a dog get so excited to get in the car. She will stick her nose out one window for a few seconds, then rush over to the other side of the car and smell out that window. She’ll even squeeze her head next to the front seat of the car so she can get a good sniff out the front windows!
I taught Pepper as many tricks as I possibly could. She can do the basics like sit and lay down, but she can also say “I love you”. I am so proud of this trick, because it actually does sound like she’s saying the words. I taught her on accident, after giving her a dog cookie a few times.
I would give her the cookie and say “I love you”. After awhile, she started barking for the cookie, and it sounded very close to the words. I taught her by really exaggerating the way I said it, and eventually she picked up on the tone and change in my voice. She now says it on command whenever someone new comes over.
I love taking Pepper on walks to the park. She is such a good dog and so easy to control, I don’t worry about letting kids and adults pet her. People love her because she has such a unique look. I love getting questions about what kind of dog she is. Whenever I am sick, Pepper will lay down next to me until I move. She has sat with me for hours during migraines, and every once in awhile she will give me a reassuring lick.
I don’t think I will ever have another pet that is as loyal, fun, smart, or cuddly as Pepper. I’m extremely lucky to have such a great dog.
