My Chihuahua is An Expert "Snuggler"

by Katie
(Nashville)

Although I own two purebred dog breeds, a Lab and a Chihuahua, I would have to say that I favor my Chihuahua Sammy the most. Not that I love Bella any less but Sammy is the sweetest, cutest little dog I have ever owned.

He likes to snuggle with me on the couch, often sitting on my back while I am typing away at my laptop. At night, he loves to snuggle with me in my bed. At first, I was afraid that I would smash him due to the fact that he is so small, probably even smaller than a normal sized Chihuahua.

I never thought I would own a Chihuahua as I worked at Taco Bell as a teenager in the 1990s and was tired of hearing “Yo quiero Taco Bell” all the time. I thought they were ugly but puppies are so cute and so was my five year old at the time that I caved and shelled out the greens to get him. From now on I will only buy or adopt this AKC purebred dog breed.

One thing that I really enjoy about Sammy is how much he loves to snuggle. This may have something to do with the breed. He will stick himself into just about any spot he can find, such as an armpit or between my leg and the couch. I know Chihuahua’s love warm weather so I am guessing it has to do with being warm and cocooned.

He is definitely not a cold weather dog as I had to carry him around outside when it was winter and stick him in a dog Snuggie. Even as I type right now, Sammy is sitting next to me, snuggled into a blanket on the couch, snoring.

There is nothing better than having a pet snuggle with you and wanting to be close to you (other than your child or loved one I guess!)
