Me and My Cocker Spaniel Luv Our Mobile Groomer!!

by Kimberly
(NC, USA)

I use a wonderful mobile groomer who comes directly to my house to groom my Cocker Spaniel. His fur is unusually thick and tends to curl so I usually have the groomer give him a perpetual summer clip that still leaves no doubt that I own a Cocker Spaniel because he still retains the long, pendulous ears that are clipped about a third of the way down. His face and neck are closely clipped to show the fine adorable face that he has.

Fortunately, he has very nice paws, so the groomer doesn’t have to spend a lot of time clipping his feet to have that rounded look that most people desire in a Cocker Spaniel. Naturally the fur on the pads of his feet is clipped quite close. The groomer clips his nails every time and even cleans his teeth.

He bathes quite easily and I was amused to see that when he is ready for clipping that he is hoisted in the air on a sling for ease of clipping him. This process also makes it easier to groom under his belly. The dog is quite used to this process. When he is done and properly dried by a blow dryer, he is returned to me clean as a whistle and sporting a dog bandana.

I always preset another appointment for no more than eight weeks away as I do not like him to get curly again and have people mistake him for a different breed of dog. Dog groomers are hard to find who can have the patience needed to groom a dog with such a curly coat and have the Cocker Spaniel come away looking like its breed, but mine does a superb job of it.
