Got a Sheepdog? Then You Need a Great Dog Groomer!

by Jenny
(USA)

Got a Sheepdog? Then Get a Good Professional Dog Groomer. I recently adopted an Old English Sheepdog. Even though everyone told me not do get involved with such a hairy breed, I was sure that I would be brushing him and keeping him beautiful all by myself.

After about 2 weeks of almost daily brushing, Teddy looked great, but I was exhausted. The dog grooming was turning in to a full-time job.

I decided to take Teddy to a professional dog groomer and give him a good summer clip. I had seen a dog grooming place close to my house, and thinking that all dog groomers must be more or less equal, I dropped Teddy off.

They didn't really ask me what I wanted, and I didn't think to specify. I figured that they were the professionals and would know what an Old English Sheepdog needed. Imagine my astonishment when I arrived at pick up time to be greeted by an unrecognizable dog. Teddy was practically bald and the only reason I knew it was him was because he greeted me so enthusiastically.

After I got Teddy home, I realized that his nakedness was not the only problem. His skin had been nicked in various places which eventually scabbed over. He was not a pretty sight. After looking up "sheepdog clips" on the internet, I realized that Teddy had NOT been in the hands of a true professional dog groomer and that I had better do my homework the next time I decided to have my dog groomed.
