Dog Breed of the Month Dec 2010
Field Spaniel

Dog Breed of the Month Dec 2010 - Field Spaniel

• The Field Spaniel is a very very unique dog breed, and not one you see every day or everywhere.

• Color wise, the Field comes in solid colors of liver, golden liver, black, roan or shades of each.

• They are probably best known for their characteristic short body and that beautiful spaniel look.

• These intelligent working dogs were bred to hunt and do need frequent daily exercise - so these dogs are not recommended for couch potatoes!

• These little hunting dogs are also about 18 inches tall and between 30 - 50 pounds in weight.

• Socialization with people and other animals and dog training from an early age is also essential for this dog breed.

• The overall life expectancy for this dog breed is usually about 10–12 years.

• These dogs are very talented in the areas of tracking, hunting, retrieving and watchdog.

• Did you know that at one time that Field Spaniels were known to be the same dog breed as the English Cocker Spaniel? It's true.
