• The coat of this breed is usually clipped to resemble a lion with the hindquarters and all but the end of the tail sheared.



• The Lowchen sheds little to no hair, making it a good breed for people prone to allergies.

• Also, since their skin can burn easily, the clipped areas require sunscreen.

• Also called the Little Lion Dog,or "petit chien lion".

• They are a member of the Bichon group of dogs that contains the Maltese, Bichon Frise and Havanese.

• They seem better suited to adults than children.

• These dogs are an affectionate, lively little lap dog, cheerful, affectionate, and intelligent.

• These tiny little dogs were once the darlings of the French court.

• Their history can be traced back to the 1500's in France.
