A squirrel dog toy is our Chihuahuas favorite

We have a five-pound, longhaired blonde Chihuahua that we adopted from a shelter in Steuben County, Indiana in late October 2008. His name is Eddie, and he loves his dog toys.
During the Christmas of 2008, my wife and I were shopping at Walgreens and we found this Milk-Bone
black and tan squirrel dog toy for him. We deemed that Eddie could not pronounce hard consonants, thus squirrel became “stwirrel”. He loves to play with his “stwirrel”.
The stwirrel was $2.99 and it is smaller than he is, it has a close resemblance to a real squirrel, right down to the colors and the tail. Eddie loves the “stwirrels” he can chase outdoors, but when the weather is inclement, he will go find his “stwirrel” and bring it to us to play with him.
He does have other dog toys, but the “stwirrel” is his absolute favorite dog toy because it is a “stwirrel” to him and that it squeaks when he grabs it. Eddie also likes his green frog dog toy for two reasons – it squeaks, and it wiggles when he walks around with it in his mouth.
So far, we have not had to replace the “stwirrel” but I know the time will come when it becomes permanently lost. Dog toys are essential to your dogs’ well-being, keep them clean, and keep track of them, they can get “lost” when the kids are around. Dogs love to play and toys are a great way to engage and entertain.
