They are a large amount of Scottish spunk, determination, and devotion crammed into a small body.
Westie's can be very good with older children, and with other dogs, however there can be same sex agression issues.
Outdoors they are truly sporty, good hunters, speedy, and cunning, with great intelligence.
In the house they are all that can be desired of a pet: faithful, understanding, and devoted, yet happy and light-hearted. This is a game terrier and has a very strong will.

The West Highland White Terrier coat is about two inches long, white in color, hard, with plenty of soft undercoat. The West Highland requires professional grooming every few months. They can have issues with dry skin and bathing too frequently may aggravate these problems.
Living with cats and other small animals can be problematic at best. Typically these dogs are under 20 pounds in weight and 11 inches tall, or less.
