This dog breed is a coonhound specialist - a tireless worker, tremendously athletic and virtually unstoppable. The Treeing Walker Coonhound is an efficient, effective and highly reliable hunter of raccoons, squirrels and even possums.
How did it get its name - or at least the "treeing" part? Well, the TWC actually "trees" whatever its prey is and often even tries to climb the tree to get at it. With proper training, you can teach the dog to merely bay and howl at its distinctive howl, letting the hunter know that the prey has been cornered and where to find them.
