Siberian Huskies are truly a resilient breed and are well known for their ability to thrive in arctic temperatures. It has been said that they can work and live in temperatures as low as negative 75 degrees Fahrenheit (-60ºC). Just so you'll know, these dogs are also very vocal - not barking so much as yodeling in howls and yips similar to the vocalizations you'll hear from wolves. So if you don't like that type of vocalization you may need to think about getting another dog breed.

Huskies value company from people or other dogs and makes a wonderful companion. They shed non-stop. If you have any aversion to loose dog hair, think seriously about getting a different breed. The Siberian Husky generally stands about 20 to 23 inches at the shoulder and weighs between 35 and 60 pounds. Females are generally much smaller than the male. Eye color for the Husky dog breed is often variable. Blue and brown eyes are common in this dog breed, while one of each may often be seen in the same dog. These dogs have a medium-sized and athletically inclined body with a high maintenance coat that sheds profusely. Regular brushing is needed to keep their coat in good condition. The undercoat is very dense, giving the dog great insulation against the cold. One more thing, in the springtime the Husky loses much of this undercoat. The Siberian Husky must stay cool in hot weather so the best home is indoors with plenty of exercise. A house with a securely fenced yard is important.
