Mini Schnauzer

A member of the Terrier group, The Miniature Schnauzer is a robust and active dog of terrier type, resembling his larger cousin, the Standard Schnauzer, in general overall appearance. He maintains an alert, active disposition and make great watch and guard dogs.

This dog has a harsh, wiry outer coat and a dense, soft undercoat. They should be clipped all over to an even length at least twice a year. Overall they have very little doggie odor and shed little to no hair.

The Mini Schnauzer was originally bred to be a small farm dog and able to go to ground for all kinds of vermin.

This breed is an alert, spirited, friendly dog who is as much at home in a city apartment as he is in the country.

Excellent family pets, these dogs weigh in around 13 to 15 pounds and gets along well with children. Typically, their wiry doublecoat is groomed to have a beard and bushy eyebrows.

Known health problems: Kidney stones, liver disease, eye problems, diabetes, von Willebrand's disease
