Labrador Retriever

Description

The Labrador Retriever is a very popular member of the Sporting

Dog Group.

He is playful, very dependable, and has a great temperament.

Their loving and obedient temperament make them great companions and service dogs for the blind or handicapped.

Labs love to be busy are among the easiest to train of all dog breeds. They also are one of the AKC's most popular breeds and are very popular in the UK.

Labs are very easy going and versatile, devoted to their families and friendly toward people, other dogs, and other pets. They also love hunting, swimming, and backyard games and they need routine exercise.

Labs are universal pets - adaptive enough to be a service, hunting or companion dog, yet with the perfect personality to enjoy swimming, hunting, a game of fetch.

Originally from Newfoundland, they have been long renowned for their work as water dogs, retrieving game and fowl from water or wooded areas.

They have a short easy to care for waterproof coat, a thick "otter" shaped tail, come dressed as yellow, black or chocolate in color.

"Good-tempered, very agile. Excellent nose, soft mouth; keen love of water. Adaptable, devoted companion. Intelligent, keen and biddable, with a strong will to please. Kindly nature, with no trace of aggression or undue shyness." -UK Kennel Club standard
