Kuvasz Purebred Dog Breed Information

The Kuvasz, a member of the Working group, is a spirited dog of keen intelligence, determination, courage, and curiosity and very sensitive to praise and blame.

Primarily a one-family dog, they are devoted, gentle, and patient without being overly demonstrative and always ready to protect loved ones even to the point of self-sacrifice.

They possess an extremely strong instinct to protect children.

Polite to accepted strangers, but rather suspicious and very discriminating in making new friends, they are unexcelled as a guard dog, possessing ability to act on his own initiative at just the right moment without instruction.

Kuvasz

A Hungarian native, this large dog breed is well known for its characteristic dense, white coat. There is a reason for the coat color too. As a natural guard dog, these dogs are bred white for one reason - to make it easier for the shepherds to tell them apart from the wolves that hunted their flocks at night.

Because of his natural guarding instinct this breed will be very protective of his family and very suspicious of strangers. He possesses an untiring ability to work and cover rough terrain for long periods of time.

The Kuvasz also has good scent and has been used to hunt game. Your new dog will also need lots of exercise, and they do shed all the time, by the way.

Lifespan: 10-12 years
