German Pinscher Purebred
Dog Breed Information

German Pinschers, a member of the AKC Working dog group, are known for their vermin hunting skills and for their instinctual desire to protect home and family.

They are extremely intelligent and very strong willed. They are also called the Standard Pinscher. Be forewarned, this dog breed will run after anything that moves quickly so make sure that you keep this dog on a leash or in a fenced in area at all times.

This dogs natural hunting abilities give them a very keen sense of prey, drive and determination and are very high-energy dogs that enjoy adventure in any form.

They are a medium size, short coated dog, elegant in appearance with a strong square build and moderate body structure- muscular and powerful enough for endurance and agility.

Energetic, watchful, alert, agile, fearless, determined, intelligent and loyal, these dogs have all the prerequisites to be an excellent watchdog and companion.

They are territorial and can be quite possessive of their owners and property. The ideal height at the highest point of the withers for a dog or bitch is 17 - 20 inches.

Also, German Pinschers are not considered a good breed for people with children. They will instinctively protect their owner and often bite first and think later. Also, they will not back away from disputes with other dogs.

Country of origin: Germany
Lifespan: 12-15 years
Colors: Black and tan, red fawn, dark brown and yellow
Known health problems: Generally no health problems
