• This breed is one of the healthiest and does not suffer from many known hereditary problems.
• On September 7, 1965, the first Canaan Dogs came to the United States.
• The first Canaan Dogs came to Canada on May 16, 1970.
• The Canaan Dog is also known as Kelev K'naani.
• The Canaan is a very clean breed with no doggie odor.
• Desert bedouins still use this breed to guard, herd and manage their own livestock.
• They need a lot of exercise, BTW.
• The dog we know today as the The Canaan Dog was originally bred in the 1930's from various wild dogs of Israel.
• Canaans may be aggressive with dogs of the same sex.
• This is a very intelligent and independent breed.
