December 06 Dog Breed of the Month Dandie Dinmont Terrier
December 06 Dog Breed of the Month Theodore Roosevelt owned a Dandie Dinmont Terrier called Cuba. The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a dog that is longer than he is tall.
The Dandie Dinmont Terrier dog breed comes in two different colors: pepper or mustard. Mustard colored puppies are dark brown when they are born and lighten into varying shades of red as adults. Pepper puppies are born black and tan, with a silvering gene. The distinctive topknot should be shampooed, brushed and combed from time to time to maintain its eye catching appearance. Their fur is both hard and soft.

Dandie Dinmont's are affectionate and fun-loving little dogs and make a great companion dog for owners. Remember, these are terriers - do not let them off the leash because they will take off after a cat or any other small animal. The Dandie Dinmont were originally bred to go to ground in the hunting of such game as badgers, otters and foxes.
